Adult learning gains in Florida differed by learner level and program type.  ABE and ASE learners tended to experience increases from 2006 through 2011. The range of learning gains percentages was generally between 30% and 60%. The high ASE level's learning gain percentage in 2011-12 was a noticeable exception; following an upward trend, it dropped to 23% that year.

Learning gains increased across time for nearly all levels. ELL lower-level learners made proportionately more learning gains than intermediate ELLs. This pattern difference may relate to NRS definitions of levels or to intermediate ELLs plateauing in language skills before reaching fluency. The learning gains of beginning literacy ELLs may also be linked to the dramatic increases in attendance for that ELL level.
